CONVERSE SESSIONS

One day I awoke to a random email call-out with a link to a musical opportunity. It was a link to the Converse Sessions page, where I sort of got the idea, pick a genre beat from a selection of 4, write a song, and book a slot to record it. It seemed most intriguing, so I checked the dates available and one worked out perfectly, so I listened to the beats. I made my choice and started letting the writing process begin. Once I felt I had something tangible to build-on to fill out the track I realized I had to book a time. And guess how many slots were left, a big fat ZEY-RO, zilch, no near notta. I was outski wit it for sure. Had that really cheesed feeling like when you make the wrong turn and continue on very, very far. And the more I thought about it the more I got into the hook I had working. I started thinking maybe, just maybe, somebody might drop out of their time slot. So I went on with the day, periodically checking, and just after I almost forgot about the whole thing I realized to remember and thus, SCORED. Time slots had opened up and I snagged up a 2 PM Saturday slot.

I booked it on Wednesday, had it written by Thursday, and memorized by Saturday afternoon. It was my first legitimate studio experience, albeit a pop-up in the basement of a Foot Locker in downtown Toronto, but the vibes were real. Peep the video below and see for yourself! We wasted no time, got the audio record banged out in a single take, after a few tries, and the rest was peaches n’ cream. The performance was no pressure, just have fun wit it. My little bro came through for support which was awesome, and he snagged the crispy pics below, enjoy!

Big SHOUSSOUT to Converse and Foot Locker Canada for putting this project together, and I am but one of many artists who got the opp to flex their tech and let it rip in the booth.

I am going to use this track in my upcoming solo project “BASTARD”, so stay tuned for official audio release. Oddly enough, this is also my second track created around the muse that is Converse footwear. My Nuit Blanche ’22 project was focused on my own pair of chucks at the time for the Bata Shoe Museum.
